SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS
Warm Up Question:
Are there any areas of your life where you are especially disciplined? [Today we are going to look at the discipline of pray and how even Jesus exercised discipline in prayer.]
HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Look up Luke 5:26, 6:12; Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35, 6:46; Luke 22:39. How do you see Jesus exercise discipline in prayer?
2. Does this surprise you that Jesus exercised discipline in prayer?
3. Read John 5:19. What does this tell us about why Jesus prayed?
4. Read Matt 4:1-2 and Matthew 6:16-17. What does this teach us about fasting?
HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
5. As you think the times when your prayer life is more focused and disciplined, is there anything about your circumstances during those seasons of life that drives you to pray more intentionally?
6. Ole Hallesby said: “Prayer and helplessness are inseparable. Only those who are helpless can truly pray.” How does (or would) fasting increase your fervency and consistency in prayer?
HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
7. What is something that you see in Jesus’ prayer life that you want to practice as a spiritual discipline this week?
