Even the best hitters strike out sometimes

JESUS’ FRAIL DISCIPLES

The twelve, minus Judas (Luke 6:14-17)

They don’t recognize Judas as the betrayer and suspect each other

A dispute over who would be considered the greatest

Simon Peter is overly confident

The disciples are very human and their faith is frail

FOLLOWERS OF JESUS ARE NOT ALWAYS VERY DISCERNING

Spiritual maturity enables one to discern good from evil (Hebrews 5:14)

God will weave your mistakes into your story so there is a happy ending

FOLLOWERS OF JESUS SOMETIMES HAVE BAD ATTITUDES

We sometimes blame others or think we are better than others

We often fail to love each other as the Lord intends (John 15:12)

FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CAN BE OVERLY CONFIDENT ABOUT THEIR SPIRITUAL STRENGTH

We sometimes fail to keep promises we make to the Lord

God is willing to forgive us when we break our promises to Him

By God’s grace and through His Spirit, may we become more faithful followers of Jesus
