DQ: A Tale of Three Kingdoms - Pt. 13
October 6, 2022

INTRO
What challenges do you think Josiah faced as he tore down the idols in high places around his kingdom?

READ: 2 Kings 22

DISCUSS
1. Have you ever had a poignant moment of conviction and renewed faith? A moment where you see clearly idols around you that you will no longer bow down to?
2. Do you have someone you identify with as your spiritual father or mother (like Josiah thought of David)? Who is it? Why do you consider them to be your ancestor in your faith?
3. “It’s never too early to choose faithfulness to God.” This was a key theme of the sermon; discuss the idea and its implications with your group.
4. What do you think it looks like to humble yourself before God’s word?
5. “It’s never too late to choose faithfulness to God.” Do you believe this? Have you ever felt like you were too far gone to return to God? That it was too late?
6. How is your temple today (1 Corinthians 6.19-20)? Are you taking care of your temple physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc.?
7. Have you lost track of God’s word? Have you focused on certain parts of “the whole counsel of God” at the expense of other parts? If so, what parts of God’s word do you need to spend time in?
8. What idols in high places need to be torn down in our culture? What about in your own life? If you see any idols to be removed, what is the next step for you in making that happen?

PRAY
Lord, thank you for the example of King Josiah in spotting idols and tearing them down. Thank you for the reminder that it’s never too early to choose faithfulness to you…and that it’s never too late. May we make that choice, day by day.
