- Matthew 1:18-23 NLT
[18] This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. [19] Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. [20] As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. [21] And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” [22] All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: [23] “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”
When the time came to bring about the plan of salvation, redemption, and hope, the One who created it all entered into His creation, laid down the privilege of a throne, and came and made His home amongst us.

[6] Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; [7] rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
The unfolding of Christmas – God’s plan to bring about the Savior - by design and with the intentionality of heaven included:
1. An unforeseen interruption.
2. An unplanned journey in an inopportune time.
3. Disappointment and rejection. No Room for them:
Luke 2:7 NKJV - And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
4. A Humble Scene for a Humble King.
Hebrews 4:15 NLT
[15] This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.Hebrews 4:16 NKJV
[16] Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.Philippians 2:5-8 NIV
[5] In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: [6] Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; [7] rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
The manger happened with the cross in mind. The baby Jesus came to be the Savior Jesus. To come into the brokenness of humanity. To enter into the world that was fallen because of our sin. To make a way for us to be saved, restored, reconciled to relationship with the Father.
