Jeff:
O Lord, I give my life to you. 2 I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. 3 No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. —Psalm 25:1-3
Big Idea: Trust in God is not based on what He allows; it’s based on what He does for me in the midst of it.
Big Question: What does God do for those who trust Him?
Main Scripture: Psalm 25
Ferrin:
My expectations have disappointed me far more than God ever has.
The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. —Psalm 25:8
What does God do for those who trust Him?
1. He guides us in Truth.
Tov (ṭôḇ) - Appropriate. Measured. Tactful. For the benefit and welfare of the people.
God was right!
The Lord is good and does what is right, He shows the proper path to those who go astray.
Ryan:
What does God do for those who trust Him?
1. He guides us in Truth.
2. He gifts us mercy.
Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. 7 Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. —Psalm 25:6-7
Mercy isn’t something God occasionally shows when He feels like it. It is a fundamental part of who He is.
“God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” —Matthew 5:7
Justin:
What does God do for those who trust Him?
1. He guides us in Truth.
2. He gifts us mercy.
3. He guards the humble.
The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. 9 He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. 10 The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. —Psalm 25:8-10
I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent. —Luke 5:32
The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant. —Psalm 25:14
There is no humility without teachability, and there is no teachability without trust.
