Praise The Lord – Psalm 148
We are not sure of the author of Psalm 148 or the context surrounding it. It might be intentional as this Psalm specifically emphasizes God.
Psalm 148 may be broken into an easy format. There are two groups commanded to praise God (verses 1-4 & 7-12) followed by the reason for the command to praise (verses 5-6 & verses 13-14).
What Group?
1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the heights! 2Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts! 3Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars of light! 4Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! – Psalm 148:1-4
Why?
5Let them praise the name of the LORD, FOR He commanded and they were created. 6He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away. – Psalm 148:5-6
God is
16For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. —Apostle Paul (Colossians 1:16-17)
What Group?
7Praise the LORD from the earth, You great sea creatures and all the depths; 8fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word; 9Mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars; 10beasts and all cattle; creeping things and flying fowl; 11kings of the earth and all peoples; princes and all judges of the earth; 12both young men and maidens; old men and children. – Psalm 148:7-12
Why?
13Let them praise the name of the LORD, FOR His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. 14And He has exalted the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints — of the children of Israel, a people near to Him. – Psalm 148:13-14

Each Psalm in this section begins and ends with the words
9Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. —Apostle Paul (Philippians 2:9-11)
