At Trailhead, we believe that church is not just about growing in God’s Word but doing so in community. We have designed this study guide to help you follow along with Sunday’s message. Study the scriptures, take notes, and then reinforce what you learned by answering a few questions. Ask others to join you in discussion, whether it be with your family or your Trailhead study group. Let’s have church!

Psalm 127:1-5 (NKJV)
1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.

3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Philippians 2:13 (AMP)

Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Discussion Questions

1) What does it mean to be “marked” by God? How would our attitudes, words, and thoughts be impacted if we acknowledged they were marked by Him?

2) Being marked by God means that God has a plan and a purpose for you. If that’s the case, then why do many Christians struggle to recognize or identify that plan and purpose?

Think about Pastor Anna’s illustration of the arrows. What is the consequence of not having direction? Why is it important that parents give their children Godly direction? What can you do to ensure that you are doing that for your own children? If you don’t have children yet, what can you do now to prepare?

3) Why is it important to be consistent in your relationship with God? What are the consequences of not being consistent with how you pursue God?

Why is it important to model this type of consistency for future generations?
