You can’t always control things going on around you, but you can determine the attitude you will have about it.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Attitude – aeronautical term: describing the pitch or orientation of the aircraft relative to the horizon. Attitude determines whether you are ascending or descending. Same is true with you and me – our attitude is often determining whether we are ascending or descending in life.
FROM ATTITUDE TO ACTION
Psalms 107:1-2 NKJV
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. [2] Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,Psalms 107:8 NKJV
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!Psalms 107:13-15 NKJV
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. [14] He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces. [15] Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!Ephesians 5:19-20 NIV
speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, [20] always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Being thankful is not just Good Christian behavior. It’s a powerful spiritual weapon that: Protects and Directs and Connects us.

Your bodies will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census, everyone twenty years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.[30] Surely none of you will enter the land in which I swore to settle you, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
1. Relational – Being Thankful is the Pathway to experience more of God’s Presence:
Psalms 95:2 NIV
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.Psalms 100:4 NIV
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.Philippians 4:6-8 NIV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
In relationships, we often lose sight of the things that bless us, and over time, the enemy causes us to begin to focus on the frustrations, weaknesses, etc.
2. Directional - Keeps us moving forward towards God’s plans and purposes for our life – His will for your life.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
Rejoice always, [17] pray continually, [18] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.Ephesians 3:20 NIV
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
But the pathway to discover it, experience it, and enjoy it is found in this scripture! Rejoice always!! Pray always. Be thankful….In every circumstance!
The pathway to the new, next and more of God is thankfulness for the now of God. If you are thankful, really thankful for something you’ll be faithful with that thing. If you are thankful, really thankful for someone you’ll be faithful to someone.
Thankfulness connects you to God’s will for YOUR LIFE. Are you Grateful for who God has made YOU, and is making YOU? Many never step into the fulness of Gods will for them, because they look around and believe they don’t measure up etc.
Reality: It’s not the person that has the most in life, but the person that makes the most of life that is really happy and fulfilled.
3. Protectional - Protects our hearts from destructive forces.
- Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Greek word for guard is Phroureo: to guard, protect by a military guard, either to prevent hostile invasion, or to keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from flight.Giving thanks guards your heart against destructive forces!
When we determine to live mindful and be grateful for who we are and what we have in Christ, we discover a joy that can’t easily be stolen. When you begin to sense an attack of discouragement, predetermine to come against it with the weapon of thankfulness.
4. Provisional - Moves the Heart of the King – the Heart of the Father.
