Is it possible we’re chasing a lifestyle that’s wrecking our mental health and stealing our joy?

Choose relationships over casual friendships.

John 13:34 New Living Translation
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

Romans 12:9-10 New Living Translation
9Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.

Galatians 6:2-3New Living Translation
2Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. 3If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

Choose conversations that lead to actual healing.

Ephesians 4:25 New Living Translation
So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.

Strengths impress, but it’s our struggles that connect.

Proverbs 28:13 New Living Translation
People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

James 5:16 New Living Translation
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Choose to .

1 Peter 5:8-9 New Living Translation
8Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 New Living Translation
9Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Galatians 6:2-3 New Living Translation
2Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. 3If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

Question to Ask:

Which side do you struggle with the most: allowing others to help you or helping others? Why do you think you struggle with one side more than the other?

Application:

Who needs to be in your close community? Who do you need to have open and honest conversations with? Who are you willing to fight for and with? Who do you need to invite in? Pray and take action this week. Ask God to show you who to invite in, and make the ask.
