His Prayer (Part 4) – John 17:20-23

If Jesus prayed for you specifically, what do you think He would pray?

20I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; —John 17:20

21that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. —John 17:21-23

Jesus prayed for future believers (us) to be characterized by .

“…that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You…”

1Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. —Paul (Philippians 2:1-2)

4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. —Paul (Ephesians 4:4-6

Unity means there is something

in life than us.

Unity means you are bonded with

.

Unity is how the world sees something in us.

“…that the world may believe that You sent Me…”
“…and that the world may know that You have sent me, and have loved them as You have loved Me…”

Unity keeps us on

and unity is our to the world.
