Why It Matters to Live on Purpose

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Are you ready to appear before our Lord Jesus Christ?

Are you ready to take the final exam?

I’d like to share with you three truths out of this verse.

One day every soul will be before our Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelations 20:11

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.

It is very interesting to know there is 2 births and 2 deaths.

Physical Birth
Spiritual Birth

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

The Bible speaks about physical death and also eternal death.

Every Christian will be evaluated for our Lord Jesus Christ.

What is involved in this evaluation?

Everyone will be called to give accounts.

You will be completely exposed/revealed.

Romans 14:12
So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

Matthew 6:1
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.”

Romans 8:1
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.
11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

1 Corinthians 5:10
I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.

1 Corinthians 3:13-14
13 each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.
14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.

What do you do with your Christian life?

Everyone can prepare themselves to meet our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amos 4:12
“Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, O Israel.”

2 Corinthians 5:11
Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

Matthew 10:28
Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
