Christian remnant among the Jews and Israel - one
Read Romans 11 in NIV-translation.
The message of this chapter is simple: God has not rejected His people. There will be a restoration one day according to the prophecy of Isaiah 11:12 which says: He will raise a banner for the

and gather the exiles of ; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the .

An inductive Bible study (8) breaks Romans chapter 11 down into six themes. In this worksheet we see theme one.

One

Romans 11:1-10 (NIV) reads 1I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? 4And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself

who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5So too, at the present time there is a chosen by grace. 6And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. 7What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, 8as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.” 9And David says: “May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. 10May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.”

Q28 God has preserved a remnant of Israel. Read also this. How would you describe a remnant in this context?

Q29 The prophet Elijah thought that he was the only one who was obedient to God. But how many people were still a believing and obedient remnant? Where in Scripture do you find this story?

The apostele Paul in Romans 11:1 answers the question whether God did reject the Jews. The answer is NO.

In Israel there are about 30,000 Messianic Jews (2024), who have put their trust in Jesus. An estimated amount of Christian Jews in the US is 1,6 million. And in Russia the ratio of Jews that believe in Jesus is 17%. If you hold the futuristic view on Revelation 6-19 (and aren’t a preterist), in chapter 14:1-5 we read that during the 7-year tribulation period 144,000 Jews will evangelize the whole earth with the Gospel of Jesus.

Q30 Discuss how God will use the Jews in the 7-year tribulation period.
