There is a Satan, and Jesus came to save us from Satan’s power.
Genesis 3:10 NKJV
10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid
Sin creates a fear of the One who calls you to Himself in love and fellowship.
…because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
No longer does the glory of God cover; the failure of self takes center stage and exposes.
…And He said, “Who told you that you were naked?
Listening to Satan’s distorted truth of what God says about you brings confusion.
Listening to what God says about you brings wisdom.
…Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
It’s not that God didn’t know. God was giving mankind an opportunity to repent and rise above sin, deflection, accusation, and ICBMF Syndrome. (It Can’t Be My Fault.)
Through lies and deceit, Satan creates separation between God and man.
Romans 5:12 Phillips
This, then, is what happened. Sin made its entry into the world through one man, and through sin, death. The entail of sin and death passed on to the whole human race, and no one could break it for no one was himself free from sin.
Jesus was born a man but without the tainted blood of mankind. He would be fully human and fully God. Heaven’s court would righteously and justifiably find satisfaction.
Romans 5:15 Phillips
But the gift of God through Christ is a very different matter from the “account rendered” through the sin of Adam. For while as a result of one man’s sin death by natural consequence became the common lot of men, it was by the generosity of God, the free giving of the grace of one man Jesus Christ, that the love of God overflowed for the benefit of all men.
Romans 5:17 Phillips
For if one man’s offence meant that men should be slaves to death all their lives, it is a far greater thing that through another man, Jesus Christ, men by their acceptance of his more than sufficient grace and righteousness, should live all their lives like kings!
Romans 5:19 Phillips
One man’s disobedience placed all men under the threat of condemnation, but one man’s obedience has the power to present all men righteous before God.
Colossians 1:20 TPT
20 And by the blood of his cross, everything in heaven and earth is brought back to himself—back to its original intent, restored to innocence again!
21-22 Even though you were once distant from him, living in the shadows of your evil thoughts and actions, he reconnected you back to himself. He released his supernatural peace to you through the sacrifice of his own body as the sin-payment on your behalf so that you would dwell in his presence. And now there is nothing between you and Father God, for he sees you as holy, flawless, and restored,
COUNTERFEIT
My salvation and my righteousness are earned and/or sustained by what I do for God. “If I do everything right, I’ll be accepted.”
TRUTH
“I’m accepted, and the doing of righteousness follows.”
Romans 6:6 NLT
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
Romans 6:10 NLT
10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
TIFAW
I have accepted Jesus as my Savior; therefore, I’m accepted by Him.
I’m free from Satan’s power and consider myself free from the power of sin.
I am a slave to righteousness living, and I am blessed with a life of His comfort and joy in the presence of my Savior.
