MOVING FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER ALWAYS MEANS GOING THROUGH A TIME WHEN YOU FEEL OUT OF PLACE.
…the people complained about their hardships, and when God heard them, He became angry, and fire from the Lord burned among them, consuming some of the outskirts of the camp. —Numbers 11:1
The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!” —Numbers 11:4-6
IN “THE BETWEEN,” IT’S EASY TO…
HAVE A STRANGE NOSTALGIA FOR THE PAST.
EXAGGERATE HOW HARD THINGS ARE NOW
DEVELOP A SELECTIVE MEMORY.
FEAR AND UNCERTAINTY CAN MAKE US FORGET GOD’S GOODNESS AND ALL THE WAYS HE’S BEEN FAITHFUL BEFORE.
…a wind went out from the Lord and drove quail in from the sea. It scattered them up to two cubits deep all around the camp, as far as a day’s walk in any direction. All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers. Then they spread them out all around the camp. —Numbers 11:32
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. —2 Corinthians 12:9
Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. —Psalm 62:8
WHEN WE’RE FEELING OVERWHELMED, GOD WANTS US TO TURN TO HIM, NOT TURN AWAY.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. —Matthew 11:28-30
OUR SEASONS OF TRANSITION CAN BECOME MOMENTS OF REAL TRANSFORMATION…IF WE’LL LET THEM.
4 WAYS TO INVITE GOD INTO YOUR MELTDOWN:
BE REAL ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE FEELING.
TURN YOUR MELTDOWN INTO A PRAYER.
SEEK SUPPORT FROM OTHERS.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. —Galatians 6:2
TAKE A MOMENT TO ASK YOURSELF, “WHAT IS GOD TRYING TO TEACH ME THROUGH THIS?”
MELTDOWNS HAPPEN. THEY’RE A NORMAL PART OF LIFE. WE ALL HAVE THEM. BUT THEY DON’T HAVE TO BE MOMENTS OF DEFEAT; THEY CAN ACTUALLY BE OUR BEST OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH.
WILL YOU OPEN YOUR HEART TO JESUS TODAY?
We’ve all been in those “in between” moments—times when life is uncertain, and we don’t know what’s next. Maybe you’re feeling that way right now, like you’re in a wilderness, stuck between where you’ve been and where you hope to go. It can feel lonely, confusing, and frustrating. But here’s the good news: you don’t have to navigate this “land between” alone. Jesus offers to walk with you through every season of life, even the tough and uncertain ones. He knows what it’s like to feel lost, and He extends His hand to guide you to a place of peace and hope. Opening your heart to Jesus doesn’t mean all your problems will instantly disappear, but it does mean you won’t have to face them alone. He offers a relationship that can bring you peace, even in the midst of uncertainty. Today, I invite you to take a step of faith and open your heart to Jesus. Let Him be your guide through your “land between,” and discover the comfort and strength that come from knowing you’re not alone.
Jesus, I’m feeling overwhelmed, and I don’t know what to do. I bring my fear, my anger, and my stress to You. Please help me see what You’re teaching me through this. Guide me, give me strength, and remind me that I’m not alone. Today, I want to trust You with my whole life. I accept you into my heart Jesus. I believe you love me. I believe you died for me, and I want to follow you. Thank you for being with me, even in the hardest moments – even in “the between.” Amen.
OUR MOSAIC PRAYER
MAY THE BEAUTY OF GOD BE REFLECTED IN OUR EYES,
THE LOVE OF GOD BE REFLECTED IN OUR HANDS,
THE WISDOM OF GOD BE REFLECTED IN OUR WORDS,
AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD FLOW FROM OUR HEARTS,
SO THAT EVERYONE AROUND US MIGHT SEE AND BELIEVE.
