PEACEMAKERS
Matthew 5:9
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
1. “WHAT IS “PEACE”?
2. “WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT MEAN TO BE A “PEACEMAKER”?
Understanding this revelation is VITAL to walking in the fullness of your
2 Thessalonians 3:16
16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.
Romans 14:17
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
THE WAY THE WORLD THINKS OF PEACE:
- QUIET
- SILENCE
- ETC.
Peace is not a
PEACE is a KEY that unlocks HEAVEN everywhere we go.
John 14:27
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF PEACE THE WORLD TRIES TO OPERATE IN.
Matthew 10:16
16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
- WISE AS A SERPENT
- INNOCENT AS A DOVE
The idea may be misleading… because doves can be quite violent...
Doves fight as aggressively as any other animal over food, mates and territory.
- Weakness encourages aggression.
- Strength discourages aggression.
Passivity is not a virtue; it is an abdication of responsibility.
In the Christian context, this means that we are called not to shrink from confrontation but to stand firm in our convictions and exhibit moral courage.
When we embody strength — moral, spiritual, and psychological — we create a presence that commands respect rather than invites hostility.
WE ARE TO RESPOND WITH POWER, WISDOM AND LOVE…
2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Matthew 10:8; 11 - 14; 16
- v. 8 Heal the sick, cleans lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils
- v. 11 - 14 Go and minister to people… and if they won’t receive what you bring… leave… and kick the dust off your feet…
- v. 16 I SEND YOU AS SHEEP AMONG WOLVES - BE WISE AS SERPENTS, INNOCENT AS DOVES.
JESUS SAYS - THAT IS WHY I NEED YOU SHREWD! (“SNAKE-DOVES”)
WISE - phronimos - inner perspective regulating outward behavior.
- HOW you see yourself changing HOW you interact with the world around you.
WISE AS SERPENTS:
- Serpents do not announce themselves.
- They go into an environment and study where they can attack.
- THEY LIE IN WAIT FOR THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY - not moved by pressure of time.
Proverbs 19:2
2 Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who makes haste with his feet errs.
- SERPENTS HAVE A SHARP EYE
The Greek would say a “serpent’s eye” for someone who had quick understanding.
They were quick to pay attention to discern what was happening around them. - We have SPIRITUAL EYES to see.
Seek quick understanding from the Holy Spirit. - THEY HAVE A SHARP EAR
James 1:19
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
INNOCENT AS DOVES
- The scripture did not say “AS HARMLESS AS DOVES” OR “AS QUIET AS DOVES”
- Not foolish, not weak, not base.
Akeraios - ‘UNMIXED” or “AS YOUR NATURE” … it did not mean be passive…
IT MEANT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE KINGDOM AS YOUR MAIN
- We are to understand evil and not participate or be in awe or scared or impressed at evil.
- We do not do anything IN SPITE of the enemy.
- We only do things as LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (represented by a DOVE).
(Many Christians have gotten in trouble and died because of misunderstanding this)
JESUS IS CALLING US TO BE KINGDOM FOCUSED AND PURPOSEFUL!
JESUS IS CALLING US TO:
- DISCERN
- DECLARE
- DISMANTLE EVERYTHING DARKNESS TRIES TO BUILD!
WISE as serpents // UNMIXED IN FOCUS as doves.
- REALIZE that you are not alone - you have the SHEPHERD!
- SO FOCUS on the Kingdom…
- USE THE SITUATIONS to your advantage
- INCREASE THE KINGDOM!
JESUS’ BIBLICAL CONCEPT OF “PEACE” - originally = Shalom - nothing missing/nothing broken.
“NOTHING MISSING”
or, you have everything that you need to have in order to do anything that you need to do.
“NOTHING BROKEN”
or, you can fix anything that tries to act up in a way that is not under God’s will.
—–SHALOM—–
- Shalom brings us back into the realm of the atmosphere of heaven.
- Shalom locks and unlocks.
- Shalom binds and looses.
YOU are called to go into brokenness - and make it unbroken.
YOU are called to find people who are missing things and help them find what they are missing.
PART OF OPENING UP THE REALM OF HEAVEN WHEREVER YOU ARE AT IS IN USING AND UTILIZING THE ABILITY JESUS GAVE YOU TO MAKE peace!
