OUR CHURCH VISION
Scripture: Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is one who keeps the Law. Prov. 29:18 (NASB 1995)
NKJV = “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.”
ESV = “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
Literal meaning…“Where there is no prophetic vision or revelation from God the people cast off restraint, no longer faithfully interpreting God’s Word and His Laws.”
1. Vision is God-Given
Nehemiah 1:3-4 (CSB) They said to me, “The remnant in the province, who survived the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. Jerusalem’s wall has been broken down, and its gates have been burned.” When I heard these words, I sat down and wept. I mourned for a number of days, fasting and praying before the God of the heavens.
Nehemiah 2:18b = ”Then they said, Let us arise and build. So they put their hands to a good work.”
2. Vision is Church Specific
- Vibrant personal relationship with God…not religion.
- Relationally connected…living life together.
- Commitment to spiritual growth…acceptance & application of truth.
- Putting faith into action…serving beyond the walls.
- Lifestyle of authenticity…walking in the reality of the Holy Spirit.
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:5 (NASB 1995)
3. Vision is Clarifying
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Ps. 119:105 (NLT)
Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. I Cor. 4:2 (NKJV)
4. Vision is Directional
Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. Hab. 2:2 (NKJV)
Vision Statement: “Our vision is to create a culture of growing in a vibrant relationship with Jesus, that is reflected in our everyday lives.”
