Sermon Notes: New Perspective
Scripture: Ephesians 4:17-24

THE CRUCIAL DECISION (MAKE A DECISION)
- Making a conscious choice to follow God.
- IT is not a one-time event but a continuous journey of commitment.

“The main idea is Choosing to let go of our old selves and become new people, recognizing how empty life can be without God. It’s important to know that true purpose in life comes from God. Without Him, everything else we find meaningful will eventually lose its shine. This change isn’t a one-time thing. It’s a journey that involves making decisions and commitments over and over again, just like keeping wedding promises every day. ” TIM KELLER

TRANSFORMATION FROM WITHIN (CHANGE FROM THE INSIDE)
- Go beyond simply giving up bad habits; emphasize cultivating new ones.
- True change is driven by internal motivations: a new identity and purpose in God.

RENEWED THINKING (TRANSFORM YOUR THINKING):
- A fundamental shift in thinking CAN ONLY changed dramatically through faith.

CAPTIVATED BY CHRIST (BEING CAPTIVATED BY HIM)
- The importance of ongoing commitment and daily reflection on the Gospel.

“Real change isn’t something we do by ourselves. It comes from thinking differently because we’re amazed by what Jesus has done. It’s not just about learning new rules, but about focusing on what Jesus did at Christmas. He traded His glory for our weaknesses, making it possible for us to become beautiful and glorious. This process of change requires commitment and a regular practice of taking the gospel message to hear.” Tim Keller

Additional Notes:

Ephesians 4:17-24
17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!— 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
