Worship: My Life's Response to God
September 1, 2024
- Worship is celebrating God above

Taking it Further To Help You THRIVE…
- Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
2. What are some pursuits, possessions, or people in your life that compete with your worship of God? Are these pursuits, possessions, or people ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’? How are we to keep God (and these p’s) in proper perspective?
3. Why do we so often equate worship with what we do or solely about our outward expressions instead of first focusing on the posture of our heart? One praise song we sing says this: “The cry of my heart is to bring You praise from the inside out…” What does inside-out worship look like?
4. Discuss some ways other than singing songs of praise that we can express worship to God. (Perhaps think way outside the box, and discuss how/why God would receive these expressions as worship.)
5. In Romans 12:1, Paul says that our “rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship” (Amplified Bible) is to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. What is your understanding of what this means and how we are to live this way?
6. Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” This verse talks about the horizontal element of worship. While God is the object of our praise (vertical), others benefit from our praise too! In light of this verse, how would you respond to someone who says “Worship isn’t for me because I don’t sing”?
