   Sermon Title: “The Second Mile”

Scripture: Mathew 5:38-48

Question: Are you a

Mile Believer or a Mile Disciple?

1. THE SECOND MILE IS THE

MILE: “I to”

In Jesus’ day, the Romans implemented what was called “The Roman Mile.”

A Roman soldier could demand that a Jew carry a burden for one mile.

Life is lived on three levels:

a. The Hellish Level: Return

for good

b. The Human Level: Return

for evil & for good

c. The Heavenly Level: Return

for evil

2. THE SECOND MILE IS THE

MILE: “I to”

The first mile is legalism, the second mile is love

We need to go the second mile when:

a. Our dignity is degraded (Matthew 5:38)

b. Our adversary is victorious (Matthew 5:40)

c. A brother or sister is in need (Matthew 5:42)

d. We are misused or abused (Matthew 43-44)

3. THE SECOND MILE IS THE

MILE: “I to”

Are you a Second Miler in all aspects of your life:

a. At work?

b. At school?

c. At church?

d. In your marriage?

e. In your devotional life?

f. In your witnessing?

Answer the Question: Are you a First Mile Believer or a Second Mile Disciple?
