Grow in Maturity
4:1
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

Called ones - last week - we found out we are heirs
Life now - walk in a manner worthy of that
Work our salvation into every nook and cranny of our lives
Freedom - never work to obtain it, we have it
…we have it - so we live accordingly
Be free from sin
Be free for love
I, a prisoner for the Lord
Loving a broken world means hardship
Great things are always hard
Rid the mindset of thinking hard means wrong

So far, Paul has talked about the wondrous spiritual blessings we have in Christ
Adopted before time
NOW - Paul talks about how he prays for them

For this reason
Adopted heirs before time began
Reason for prayer

?
First start, we speak
Speak and listen
Tending to the presence of God
We can pray continually as we recognize that we are always in his presence
Give folks
Paul, in God’s presence, would bring up these people Christ loved and that he loved

Lifting Up
As he prays two things are lifted up

Christ

Last week - Later the word evolved to mean the best of us
not the Hall of Fame
Paul, clearly means all of us
2nd half of the letter we have work to do

Paul
Alien?
No…he’s not naive
Church - he loves - but also hardship, he knows
Us as well…
Which is the true reality?
Smelt iron…comes as ore, impurities burned and removed
Iron is there all along

God in his wisdom has chosen to call messy people like you and I saints. And he is working out in

his death and resurrection.

  1. Learn about

Look at his prayer as a model:

Love toward the Saints
Father - Son - Spirit
As the Trinity exists, so we in love grow in unity
The Triune God loves us and bestows gifts:
Gifts
Wisdom, knowledge of the revelation of Him
Enlightened Eyes, Know Hope
Riches of Inheritance

How?
Great Power towards us evident in the resurrection
These gifts are the workings of Christ’s resurrection in our lives as we grow together in Christ.

Our prayers are too

List my things - I ask him to bless them - as if I’m at the notary

Paul - big things for these people
Fuel them for life in Christ
Big hope

  1. Learn about our

Why would I be so audacious to ask for the things I just asked for?

Jesus
Raised from the dead
Seated him on the right hand over everything
All things under his feet
Head of the Church

And then he adds Church - the fullness of Christ

3) Learn about the

We serve Christ
All things are being reconciled
All things are being reordered under his leadership

We are his body
Resurrected from death
Filled with the Spirit - animated matter now alive
Fullness of Him who fills all in all

Church
Of course, we are sinful - Christ had to die for us
Not just seminar, new book
Bled for us
This is who we are
No plan

In the strength of his wisdom, we bear witness
In our weakness, we bear witness

You and I, saints, are being transformed under his leadership.
Let’s meet him at His table.
