SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE

CONVERSATION STARTER
How many faith conversations have you had with unbelievers since the beginning of the month? What did those conversations look like? What did you learn from them? If you’ve had no faith conversations, what stops you?

DEEPER

Read: Romans 9:1-9
Paul is quite devastated for the lost and their lack of faith in Christ. Does this convict you to care more for those in your life who do not know Christ? It’s easy to simply not think, or not want to think about it. Who are some people in your life you desire to see come to Christ? Do you have an understanding of what they believe about the world and their purpose in it? What is their attitude toward Christianity?

What specific steps can you take this week to engage someone in a conversation about Jesus — either people you know personally, or new people you meet throughout the week. Talk about these experiences the next time you come back together as a Life Group.

What are some common barriers that keep us from sharing the gospel, and what steps can we take to overcome them?

Pastor Josh provided us with some practical ways to love the lost:
-support our church and it’s mission financially
-sign up to receive updates from our ministry partners and begin praying for them and their ministries
-invite someone to church
-invite a loved one out for dinner or coffee and pour into them.
Do any of these ways of loving the lost stick out to you? Which ones?

We learned from Luke 15 how God and his angels respond when the lost are found and when sinners repent and turn back to God. When those in your life receive the gospel and come to faith, how do you respond? What are some ways you can celebrate with them?

What stood out to you in this week’s sermon? What were your biggest takeaways?
