Vivid
Satan
Pastor Heath Beard

May 15 & 19, 2019

Vivid comes from the Latin vivere, which means “to live.”

Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you. —James 4:7 CEV

Do not give the devil an opportunity … —Ephesians 4:27 NASB

Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. —Revelation 12:7-9

In order that no advantage be taken of us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes. —2 Corinthians 2:10-11

Satan threatens our thoughts.

Satan cannot read our minds, but he can influence our thoughts.

“Satan entered Judas” —Luke 22:3

Satan blinds the minds of unbelievers.

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers. —2 Corinthians 4:4

Satan loves to steal God’s word.

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. —Matthew 13:24-25

Any time God does something PRODUCTIVE in our lives the enemy tries to do something DESTRUCTIVE in our lives.

Satan tempts you.

Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. —1 Peter 5:8

7 temptations
- Tempts you to do your own thing
- Temps you to be angry
- Tempts you to hate
- Tempts you with guilt
- Tempts you with false religions
- Tempts you to downplay (HIMSELF)
- Temps you to sexual immorality

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. —1 Corinthians 10:13

Satan tries to block God’s work.

For we wanted to come to you - certainly I, Paul, did, again and again -but Satan, he stopped us. —1 Thessalonians 2:18
