The Odds Have Changed

Isaiah 59:19 KJV

19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD SHALL LIFT UP A STANDARD AGAINST HIM.

LIFT UP A STANDARD: to chase, to cause to flee, to cause to take flight, to cause to depart, to cause to disappear, to drive hastily, to cause to hide.

1 Samuel 11:1 KJV

1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh–gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.

NAHASH: serpent

1 Samuel 11:2-7 KJV

2 And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.

3 And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days’ respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.

4 Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.

5 And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.

6 And THE SPIRIT OF GOD CAME UPON SAUL when he heard those tidings, and HIS ANGER WAS KINDLED GREATLY.

7 And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.

1 Samuel 11:7 NLT

7 He took two oxen and cut them into pieces and sent the messengers to carry them throughout Israel with this message: “This is what will happen to the oxen of anyone who refuses to follow Saul and Samuel into battle!” And the LORD made the people afraid of Saul’s anger, and all of them came out together as one.

1 Samuel 11:8-11 KJV

8 And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND, AND THE MEN OF JUDAH THIRTY THOUSAND.
9 And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabesh–gilead, TOMORROW, BY THAT TIME THE SUN BE HOT, YE SHALL HAVE HELP. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.

10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, tomorrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.

11 And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.

James 4:7 KJV

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. RESIST THE DEVIL, AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU.

1 Samuel 17:50-51 KJV

50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. AND WHEN THE PHILISTINES SAW THEIR CHAMPION WAS DEAD, THEY FLED.

Hebrews 11:33-34 NLT

33 By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions,

34 quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. THEY BECAME STRONG IN BATTLE AND PUT WHOLE ARMIES TO FLIGHT.
