We Heed His Warning

Luke 21:5-8

Following Christ is an eternal life and death matter. Being a Christian is not just trying to be a better person or enhancing your personality, being a Christian is giving total allegiance to Jesus Christ in all things. In order for us to receive his salvation we must be obedient to his commands and his warnings. In Luke 21, Jesus gave a series of warnings to his disciples to prepare them for the dangerous period that was ahead for them.

I. Don’t put your

in human institutions — trust . (vv. 5-6)

A. The disciples were

with the glory of the temple.

B. Jesus says that we should not be in awe of

things.

II. Don’t be

by false prophets — stay . (vv. 7-11)

A. The Bible speaks of two kinds of false prophets:

    who say Jesus is never coming back.

  2. There are

    who exploit the second coming.

B. Jesus said there would be teachers who come claiming to be the Christ, saying the time is near, but don’t go out

them.

III. Don’t be

by intense opposition — be . (vv. 12-20)

A. There has been religious

ever since Cain killed Abel because he had a more righteous sacrifice.

B. In the last 30 years, our culture has changed from a Christian culture to a

-Christian culture, and we are rapidly moving toward an -Christian culture.

IV. Don’t be
