NKJV heading Hold Fast Your Confession

Teaching video by David Guzik

Hebrews 10:19-25 (NKJV) says 19Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and having a High Priest over the

of God, 22let us draw near with a true heart in of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold fast the of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is . 24And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

The verses 19-21 are an introduction to the rest of the letter, and a summary of the last chapters. Verse 19 states that when you are born-again you have boldness of access to God. Are you born-again? Yes? Then you can enter the throneroom of God. The access ticket is the blood of Jesus.

Q1 How is that access called in the first part of verse 20? Remember that Jesus said I am the

, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

Q2 Why does verse 20 talk about a veil? What is the High Priest’s role in this verse?

Q3 The way is open, the veil is torn, the High Priest Jesus ushers you in. That is the theological truth. Now, we need to experience it. To what are we invited (verse 22)? What is the sprinkling about (1 John 1:9)? And what is the washing with pure water about? Is it an outward sign of an inward washing?

Q4 Then three times we read the phase “Let us”, in verses 22, 23, and 24. Could you reflect on what your response should be, based on these verses?
