This Was Not Part of the Plan
*“ 18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about [a] : His mother Mary was pledged to be
married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the
Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.” —Matthew 1:18-19
Often times God interrupts our plans with His purpose.
“ 21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” —Proverbs 19:21
*“ 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is
conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” —Matthew 1:20-21
We don’t have to understand the plan to trust God has a purpose.
*“ 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my
thoughts than your thoughts.” —Isaiah 55:8-9
Sometimes God’s greatest invitations feel like our worst interruptions.
