Life Group Questions – Dec 18th,19th 2021
This weekend Pastor Al brought us the third message in the advent series for this year. We learned about the “Christmas Child” and Gods plan revealed to Isaiah.
Pastor Al opened with the concept of peace and how fear is absent in the presence of God.
Read Luke 2:10-12, think about the impact of these words and how you would react if they were spoken to you.
Do you have faith to believe such great works of God today? What can WE do to bolster our faith? What can we expect the Holy Spirit to do to grow our faith? How does this effect our peace?
The first thing Pastor Al emphasized was Gods initial plan for salvation, going all the way back to Genesis 3:15.
What does Gods plan for redeeming humanity reveal about His character? We see in Genesis 3:15 that God had a plan from the beginning but waited thousands of years to send His Son. How might this comfort us and reinforce our view of God’s sovereignty? Have you ever questioned God’s timing?
Next Pastor Al shared the story of king Ahaz and his rebellion from God. Read Isaiah 7-10 for a refresher.
Ahaz refused when the Lord asked him to ask for a sign, and although Ahaz seemed spiritual in saying “I will not test God” he was disobedient. Reflect on this story and any lessons we can learn from it.
Has there been a time in your life when you felt spiritual but realized you were on the wrong path leading away from God? Share what brought you out of this lie.
In what ways are we like Ahaz today?
Lastly, Pastor Al talked about the prophecy fulfilled in the miracle of a virgin birth, and how this is God’s provision for us.
Read Romans 5:8-9. This verse is the result of Gods prophecy being fulfilled. What foundational doctrine does this support? And how does it affect how the Church should operate? How can dwelling on this bring us closer to Christ?
Pastor Al said God’s character is our everlasting provision. What does this mean to you? Do you believe this?
Pastor Al concluded with the concept of true peace in God and His plan for salvation through His Son.
What is required for experiencing Gods true peace? How must our expectation be in Him and what does that mean in everyday life?
