Sermon Notes
“so that all people may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” (John 5:23, CSB)
The Father’s Testimony of the Son!
John 5:30-37
30 “I can do nothing on My own. I judge only as I hear, and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 31 “If I testify about Myself, My testimony is not true. 32 There is another who testifies about Me, and I know that the testimony He gives about Me is true. 33 You sent messengers to John, and he testified to the truth. 34 I don’t receive human testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35 John was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 “But I have a greater testimony than John’s because of the works that the Father has given Me to accomplish. These very works I am doing testify about Me that the Father has sent Me. 37 The Father who sent Me has Himself testified about Me.…” (John 5:30-37a, CSB)

“17 Even in your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am the one who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.” (John 8:17-18, CSB)

“13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. 14 But John tried to stop Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me? 15 Jesus answered him, “Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John allowed Him to be baptized.16 When Jesus was baptized, He went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased.” (Matthew 3:13-17, CSB)
“16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:16-17, CSB)
