Life Group Questions – December 4th & 5th 2021
This weekend Pastor Al Preached from Matthew 1:18-25 on the faithfulness of Joseph.

Pastor Al talks about how it was a “nightmare” situation that Joseph was thrown into with Mary which could threaten his honor but He maintained his faith to God and his wife.
What can we glean from Joseph’s situation with Mary conceiving Jesus? What does his response demonstrate and how can we respond similarly to our own “nightmare” situations?
What do Joseph’s actions demonstrate to us about patience during trials? How do we see him demonstrate both an act of faith and a life of faith?

Pastor Al talked about how our suffering is not in vain but has purpose and timing and God will deliver us from it.
Read Psalm 34:19, What does this verse mean to us? Why are we not promised painlessness in this life? What purpose does God have in our suffering?
Sometimes God’s deliverance and provision looks different than we expect, Jesus is an example of this for the Jews who expected a militant king to overthrow the Romans, what is an example of God’s provision/deliverance in your own life which was different from your expectation? How was this better than your own expectation?

Pastor Al talked about how Jesus can be the ONLY savior as He is the only Son of God (us being brought into kinship through Him).

Why does the Savior have to be the Son of God? Why can He be the ONLY way to the Father? And why does Jesus’s position in the Trinity uniquely qualify Him for His role?
How can we be called children of God when only Christ could fulfill the role of the Son of God? What does being His children tell us about His promises, our salvation, and our position in Christ? How does this help us minister to skeptics (both in church and the world)?

Pastor Al talks about how the Devil is trying to Gaslight us or deceive us into believing that the truths of the Bible are insane.

Read Jeramiah 17:9 and 1 Peter 5:8, what can we discern about the Devil’s intentions for us and the Church? What areas of our minds, hearts, and communities will he target knowing he has no power over us?
What are some Biblical truths that we KNOW that the world and the Devil are trying to gaslight and confuse us over? What false church beliefs do we see coming up as a result of these deceptions?

Pastor Al ends his message by talking about how BLM and modern society are trying to change Christmas and take Christ out of it.

As we approach Christmas once again, what can you be doing to keep the focus on Christ and avoid the societal distractions which are used to take away purpose from the holiday?
