Finally

We are in a war (v. 10)

David was anointed King long before he was appointed King.

We are strong in the Lord’s power – not our own.

Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

We have an enemy (v. 11-12)

John 10:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Revelation 12:9
“The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”

Put on the armor now (v. 13)

The day of evil

1 Corinthians 10:13
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Stand Firm in the armor – (v. 14-17)

The opposite of “standing firm” is retreating

Ephesians 6:14-17
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Fight with prayer and worship (v. 18-20)

Prayer is not calling room service;
Prayer is our radio on the battlefield.

The devil wants our worship.
When we worship God, we fix our eyes on Him.

Isaiah 14:12
“How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!”

Fight from victory not for victory.

Revelation 20:10
“and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (ESV)
