“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” —John 10:27 (NIV)
THE BETTER YOU KNOW GOD, THE BETTER YOU HEAR GOD.
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. —2 Timothy 3:14-17 (NIV)
15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. —1 Timothy 4:15-16a (NIV)
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. —2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
How Do I Engage With the Word?
1. See it as a story.
“Meta-narrative” – An academic term for a comprehensive story that explains everything.
2. Read it as inspired literature.
Understand the difference between ESSENTIALS & NON-ESSENTIALS.
The Moravian Motto: In the essentials unity, in the non-essentials liberty, in all things charity (love).
3. Make a clear plan.
What am I asking you to do?
- Attend church.
- Read your Bible.
- Read it with others.
- Keep going.
