What Kingship Means: Shepherd (2 Samuel 7, Ezekiel 34)

Rule with Righteousness (Ezekiel 34:22-24)

Protect and Provide (Ezekiel 34:25-29)

Unify the People (Ezekiel 34:30-31)

The genealogy shows us the threats to kingship: sin, death, and defeat. Many of these kings were wicked, and even the good ones sinned. The piling up of generations reminds us that each king died. And finally David’s sons failed in their duty, Jerusalem was defeated, and the people went into exile.

Responding to King Jesus

Obedience to his righteous rules

Trust in his protection and provision

Loyalty to his Person
