God Speaks to Us Through Prayer
12 “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. Purpose of Prayer is Not to Convince God to Change your Circumstances, but to Prepare You to be Involved in God’s Activity.
4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. 5 John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” —Acts 1:4-5 NIV

God’s Plan

Prayer is Designed to Adjust You to God’s Will, not Adjust God to Your Will
1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. —Acts 2:1 NIV
12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city. 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Genuine Prayer Does not Lead to an Encounter with God. It is an Encounter with God.
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. —1 John 5:14-15 NIV
