Devoted parents pray for their children, seeking God’s blessings for their well-being and spiritual growth. They engage in reading and singing Scriptures, bringing them to worship in God’s house. With unwavering faith, they present their children to God, bestowing upon them the sacrament of the covenant - a sign of God’s promise and a seal of His grace. Like Mary and Joseph, godly parents fulfill these responsibilities for their firstborn son, desiring to follow God’s commands.
When they arrived to present Jesus, they encountered a righteous and devout man named Simeon. He eagerly awaited the arrival of the Lord’s anointed - the Christ. With the firm belief that God would bring comfort to His people, Simeon knew through a special promise that he would one day see the Messiah with his own eyes.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, Simeon found himself in the outer courtyard at the perfect place and time to witness the desire of his faithful heart. As God’s providence would have it, he saw the arrival of the Christ when Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus into the temple, following the customs of the Law. Simeon lovingly embraced the child in his arms and offered blessings to God. Overwhelmed with joy, Simeon, guided by the Holy Spirit, proclaimed a prophetic message. He began to REJOICE: With Heart And Soul And Voice! This was salvation. God had come to RANSOM CAPTIVE ISRAEL.
