If This Table Could Talk

Minor Prophets Micah.png

1 Hear what the Lord says: Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice. 2 Hear, you mountains, the indictment of the Lord, and you enduring foundations of the earth, for the Lord has an indictment against his people, and he will contend with Israel. —Micah 6:1–2 (ESV)

1. God Desires Covenant , Not Empty

6 “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” —Micah 6:6–7 (ESV)

“To obey is better than sacrifice.” —1 Samuel 15:22

Hebrews 10 5-7

**2- True Worship Is— to do Justice, Love , and walk with your God

8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? —Micah 6:8(ESV)
James 1:27 – Pure religion is caring for the vulnerable.
Psalm 51:17 – A broken and contrite heart is real worship.

3. Ignoring God’s Leads to Judgment

10 Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed? 11 Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights? 12 Your rich men are full of violence; your inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth. 13 Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow, making you desolate because of your sins. —Micah 6:10–13 (ESV)

Deuteronomy 28 – Blessings and curses tied to covenant faithfulness.

Grace welcomes us in, but it’s not a license to live

.

4. God’s Heart Is , Even in Judgment

But even as God brings a case against His people, listen to His tone: “O my people, what have I done to you?”

Hosea 11:8–9 – “How can I give you up?”

2 Peter 3:9 – God is patient, not wanting any to perish.

Luke 15 – The Father still runs toward prodigals.

But now, we come to a different table—not wood and metal, but grace and blood.
If this table could talk…

It would speak of a broken body and poured-out blood.
