The Temple Tax

What is this “temple tax” for? Who should pay it? When?


Exodus 30:12-16, Numbers 1:1-2 and 26:1-2, 2 Chronicles 24:4-6, Nehemiah 10:32-33

Jesus’ response

“From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own children or from others?” “From others,” Peter answered. “Then the children are exempt,” Jesus said to him —Matthew 17:25-26

The word ‘exempt’ is more literally
