In John 14:1-3 Jesus says 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. 2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to

a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Q1 What is Jesus doing right now? When He is done with His work there, what has He promised to do next?

Philippians 3:20 says But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Q2 Where is our citizenship to be spent? How do we get there? See also the next passage below.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 says 13Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the

to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Q3 Which two groups of people Paul is talking about in verse 13?

Q4 How do you know that those who sleep in death are believers?

In verse 14 Paul reassures Jesus’ work on earth through which we have assurance of everlasting life and resurrection. Then in verse 15 we get to know the order of resurrection. First the Christians who have died (sleep in death), then those who are living when the rapture takes place.

Q5 The Lord Jesus will come down from heaven. What will the three audible signs be?

Q6 Where will we meet him (verse 17)? And where will we be with Him and for how long?

Q7 What does the command in verse 18 mean for us?
