5 DAY DEVOTIONAL
New Covenant April 6, 2025
Day 1: Prioritizing God Above All
Reading: Matthew 6:25-34
Devotional: In our passage today, Jesus teaches us to seek first the kingdom of God. This echoes the message from Nehemiah and Paul about giving ourselves first to the Lord. Reflect on your own priorities. Are there areas of your life where you’ve put other things before God? Consider how you can realign your focus to put God first in all aspects of your life - your time, resources, and relationships. Remember, when we prioritize our relationship with God, He promises to take care of our needs.
Day 2: Excellence in Service
Reading: Colossians 3:23-24
Devotional: Paul encourages the Corinthians to excel in acts of grace, just as they excel in other areas. Today’s passage reminds us to work heartily, as for the Lord. Think about areas in your life where you might be giving less than your best. How can you approach your work, relationships, or ministry with excellence? Remember, our service is ultimately for God, not for human approval. Let this motivate you to give your all, even in tasks that seem mundane or challenging.
Day 3: The Power of Community
Reading: Hebrews 10:24-25
Devotional: Nehemiah’s story highlights the importance of community in maintaining faith and accountability. Today’s reading emphasizes the need for believers to encourage one another. Reflect on your own faith community. How can you contribute to building others up? Consider reaching out to someone today to offer encouragement or support. Remember, we weren’t meant to walk our faith journey alone - we need each other to stay strong and grow in our relationship with God.
Day 4: Overcoming Challenges
Reading: James 1:2-4
Devotional: Nehemiah faced numerous challenges in rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, yet he persevered. James teaches us to view trials as opportunities for growth. Think about a current challenge in your life. How might God be using this situation to develop your character or deepen your faith? Ask God for the strength to persevere and the wisdom to learn from your difficulties. Remember, God is with you in every trial, working all things for your good and His glory.
Day 5: Generosity and Grace
Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Devotional: Paul commends the Macedonian churches for their generous giving despite their poverty. Today’s passage reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver and is able to bless us abundantly. Reflect on your own attitude towards giving - of your time, resources, or talents. Are there areas where God might be calling you to be more generous? Remember, our generosity is a response to God’s overwhelming grace in our lives. Ask God to cultivate a spirit of joyful giving in your heart.
