DQ: Kingdom Categories - Pt. 6
May 19, 2024

INTRO: Do you know anyone graduating this year or share a memory from your graduation?

READ: Galatians 5:13-15, 19-26

Begin the time by praying together.

DISCUSS:
1. E pluribus unum: unity. Where are you seeing unity in your life (work, family, church, etc)?
2. Acts of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21 are considered obvious. How do you see the list of 15 things of the flesh in our politics?
3. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) which of these is easiest for you to embrace? Which is most difficult to embrace? Why?
4. Some translations of the Bible have “forbearance” instead of “patience” as one of the fruits of the spirit. Forbearance is more than patience, it’s about choosing not to retaliate when wronged, and instead extending terms to benefit another. How have you done this or experienced this in your life?
5. Do you have an example of putting wax in your ear or being tied up like Odysseus tried to avoid the sirens? How do you do this in your spiritual walk?
6. Jason and Orpheus avoided the sirens by having Orpheus sing a song that was sweeter. How have or could you experience this so we can dance with God rather than giving into the flesh?

PRAYER: Lord, may we bear your fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control as we keep our focus on You.
