Objections to God’s Sovereign Grace

Introduction:


I. God is not unjust (Rom. 9:14-18)
a. To to sinners (14-16)


b. To sinners (17-18)


i. God prophesied that He would harden Pharaoh’s heart (Ex. 4:21; 7:3)
ii. During the first 5 plagues, Pharaoh is said to harden his own heart (Ex. 7:13, 14, 22; 8:15, 19, 32; 9:7, 34, 35)
iii. Only after the 6th plague is God said to harden Pharaoh’s heart (Ex. 9:12; 10:1, 20, 27; 11:10; 14:8)


II. God’s never absolves human (Rom. 9:19-20)


III. God is with sinners to His mercy (Rom. 9:21-29)

“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty…” —Ex. 34:6-7
