5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide
Day 1: Renewing Your Mind
Reading: Romans 12:1-2
Devotional: As we begin this journey, let’s focus on the transformative power of renewing our minds. Paul urges us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This isn’t a one-time event, but a continual process. Today, reflect on areas of your thinking that need alignment with God’s truth. Are there worldly patterns or beliefs holding you back from fully experiencing God’s will for your life? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where your mind needs renewal and commit to meditating on God’s Word daily.
Day 2: The New Creation in Christ
Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Devotional: Today we explore the profound truth of our new identity in Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we become new creations - the old has gone, the new has come! This transformation affects our entire being - spirit, soul, and body. Reflect on how your life has changed since coming to Christ. Are you living fully in your new identity, or are there areas where you’re still clinging to old patterns? Ask God to help you embrace and live out your new life in Christ, becoming an ambassador of His reconciliation to the world around you.
Day 3: Walking in the Spirit
Reading: Galatians 5:16-25
Devotional: Our passage today highlights the ongoing struggle between our flesh and the Spirit. As believers, we’re called to walk by the Spirit, allowing Him to guide our thoughts, decisions, and actions. This requires intentional surrender and obedience. Consider the fruits of the Spirit listed in this passage: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Which of these do you see growing in your life? Which areas need more cultivation? Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to walk in step with Him today, resisting the desires of the flesh and producing spiritual fruit.
Day 4: The Power of God’s Word
Reading: Hebrews 4:12-13 and Psalm 119:105-112
Devotional: Today we focus on the transformative power of God’s Word. Scripture is described as living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It has the power to penetrate our deepest thoughts and attitudes, bringing light to our path. Reflect on your current relationship with God’s Word. Are you consistently feeding your spirit with Scripture? How can you make God’s Word a more central part of your daily life? Ask God to increase your hunger for His Word and to open your eyes to its truths as you read and meditate on it.
Day 5: Putting on the New Self
Reading: Ephesians 4:17-24
Devotional: As we conclude our week, let’s focus on the practical outworking of our renewed minds. Paul instructs us to put off our old self and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. This is an active, ongoing process that requires our participation with the Holy Spirit’s work in us. Reflect on specific areas of your life where you need to “put off” old behaviors or attitudes and “put on” Christ-like characteristics. Ask God to help you identify these areas and give you the strength to make lasting changes. Remember, this transformation is possible because of your new identity in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit working in you.
“The entrance and unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Psalm 119:130
