CALVARY’S FOUR ROOTS
Mark 12:29-30 (NIV) “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
God First
People Are The Priority
Healthy Things Grow
We Get To Do This
Mark 12:30 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
SOUL — What is your passion?
PEOPLE ARE THE PRIORITY
THREE PEOPLE IN SCRIPTURE
1. You
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
The Bible says that you are God’s masterpiece.
2. Believers
Ephesians 3:10-11 (NIV) His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Bible says that God accomplishes His purposes through His Church.
3. Unbelievers
Romans 3:23 (NIV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 (NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Bible says that unbelievers are lost.
If you are a believer, then you live out the “One Anothers”.
John 15:17 (NIV) This is my command: Love each other.
Romans 12:10 (NIV) Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:16 (NIV) Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Romans 14:13 (NIV) Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.
Galatians 5:13 (NIV) You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 6:2 (NIV) Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Colossians 3:13 (NIV) Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Hebrews 3:13 (NIV) But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
James 5:9 (NIV) Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
If you are an unbeliever, then the Bible says that Jesus came to save you.
Luke 19:10 (NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
If you are a believer, then you are Christ’s Ambassador.
2 Corinthians 5:20-21 (NLT) So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT) “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Jesus Loves People!
John 3:16-17 (NLT) “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Luke 15:3-7 (NLT) So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
