Luke 4:16-21“And (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
POINT: Being captivated by Jesus is the

Romans 6:12-14 “Let not sin therefore reign (rule) in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your body to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
Q: What are you captive to?
Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, trains us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,”
POINT: This life is a spiritual, emotional, relational, financial, directional
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds (those places in us that captivate us). 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

Suggestion:
* Do a Bible Study on whatever you’re tempted by/captivated by.
* Do a Bible Study on God’s strength OVER temptation/captivation.
* Journal your thoughts in light of God’s promises and instruction.
* Commit your captive places to Jesus in prayer…focusing on His forgiveness, grace, mercy, love and strength.
* Commit 2 Corinthans 10:3-5 to memory.
