How To Neighbor - Week 3

A Spirit Of Serving

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. —Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)

What are you always doing?
What would others say you are always doing?

In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha; she was always doing good and helping the poor. —Acts 9:36 (NIV)

“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.” —Galatians 5:13 (NIV)

What if serving is stewardship of the miraculous?

What you are always doing, might be what you are serving.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” —Joshua 24:15 (NIV)

“His master replied,
‘Well done, good and faithful servant!
You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ —Matthew 25:21 (NIV)
