“If we don’t disciple this generation and help them understand God’s plan for sex…the world is 100% willing to do it for us!”

Genesis 1:27: So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

“Every person is created in God’s image.”

Biblical sexual ethic is what God says about sex in the Bible.

Jesus knew how to engage people in conversations without alienating everyone he didn’t agree with. “We have to learn how to have Jesus-thick skin in a divisive culture.”

Why society doesn’t want us to bring Jesus into the conversation about sex.

1. The sexual revolution.
Society will tell you that “sex was liberated from the prison of marriage.”
Sex was no longer seen as an act of love in the context of marriage, it was now meant to be “an expression of individualism and idealism.” The line of what is “societally acceptable” with respect to sex has been drifting further and further from a biblical sexual ethic.

2. “Us vs them” dichotomy about sex.
“Biblical sexual ethic,” [vs] “Everything’s fair game” mindset.
It’s actually been proven “the most sexually satisfied people in the world are married couples.”

3. Sexual shame culture.
While we hold to a biblical view of sex and sexuality, “We do not use our beliefs as a way to humiliate or punish those who DO NOT KNOW Jesus.” “We also do not use our beliefs as a way to humiliate or punish those who DO KNOW Jesus.”

“Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is share the hard truth in love.”

John 1:14: The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus was and is full of grace and truth.

And I want this conversation today to be “full of the grace of God and also representative of the truth of God’s Word.”

John 8:3-5: As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”

John 8:6: They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.

However, these religious leaders had conveniently neglected to follow the whole law of Moses which said, “If someone witnessed another person who was about to commit a sin, compassion required them to speak up.”

Do not let your passion for the law of God become your excuse for dismissing yourself from the law of Christ.

Luke 10:27: “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

John 8:6: They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.

John 8:7: They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

John 8:9-11: When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-10: Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10: Don’t you realize that this is not the way to live? Unjust people who don’t care about God will not be joining in his kingdom. Those who use and abuse each other, use and abuse sex, use and abuse the earth and everything in it, don’t qualify as citizens in God’s kingdom.
1 Corinthians 6:18-19: Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?

The Greek word for sexual sin is porneia. It means a “surrendering of sexual purity.”

1 Corinthians 6:20: You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

1 John 2:3-5: And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.

Romans 8:1: “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
