Face Your Battles

How to FACE YOUR BATTLES…

Because between the blueprint and the breakthrough, there’s battles we face…
And these battles are either

or

We’re going to look at one story in the Bible in 2 Chronicles 20 on how to face your battles so you can breakthrough into God’s best!

1 After this, the Moabites and Ammonites, together with some of the Meunites, came to fight against Jehoshaphat. 2 People came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast number…has come to fight against you…

3 Jehoshaphat was afraid, and he resolved to seek the Lord. Then he proclaimed a fast for all Judah, 4 who gathered to seek the Lord. They even came from all the cities of Judah to seek Him. 5 Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the Lord’s temple before the new courtyard.

6 Yahweh, the God of our ancestors, are You not the God who is in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can stand against You. 7 Are You not our God who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and who gave it forever to the descendants of Abraham Your friend?

8 …we will stand before this temple and before You, for Your name is in this temple. We will cry out to You because of our distress, and You will hear and deliver.” Look how they repay us by coming to drive us out of Your possession that You gave us as an inheritance.

12 Our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this vast number that comes to fight against us. We do not know what to do, but we look to You. 13 All Judah was standing before the Lord with their infants, their wives, and their children. 14 In the middle of the congregation, the Spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel…

15 and he said, “Listen carefully, all Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. This is what the Lord says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast number, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow, go down against them.

You will see them coming up the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley facing the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You do not have to fight this battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. He is with you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Tomorrow, go out to face them, for Yahweh is with you.’”

18 Then Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord to worship Him. 19 Then the Levites from the sons of the Kohathites and the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel shouting with a loud voice.

20 In the morning they got up early and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa. As they were about to go out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in Yahweh your God, and you will be established; believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.” 21 Then he consulted with the people and appointed some to sing for the Lord and some to praise the splendor of His holiness.

When they went out in front of the armed forces, they kept singing:
Give thanks to the Lord, for His faithful love endures forever.
22 The moment they began their shouts and praises, the Lord set an ambush against the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir who came to fight against Judah, and they were defeated.

When you’re facing a difficult situation or battle, how do you naturally respond?

Jehoshaphat immediately turned to God and prayed, “We are powerless before this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You” (2 Chronicles 20:12 NASB).

And sometimes giving

in the battle seems easier…
Sometimes giving seems easier…

And instead of giving up or giving in…
God says to His people to, ‘go down

them’, ‘go out and them’, and ‘ early’ with faith…

And as you wait on God for a breakthrough in the midst of the battle you face, there are three things to remember…

“Listen carefully, all Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. This is what the Lord says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast number, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow, go down against them….17 You do not have to fight this battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. He is with you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Tomorrow, go out to face them, for Yahweh is with you.’”

– POSITION YOURSELF

The prophet said, You do not have to fight this battle.

yourselves!

God says you don’t have to fight this battle…But you do have to face it!
There’s a difference…

Surrender is positioning yourself to trust God in the midst of the battle you’re facing.
To do what only He can do IN YOU and AROUND you.
And God is asking you to not fight the battle alone, but trust Him and let go…
So God can get into the battle scene with you!

The moment you try to control your world you are playing

.
The moment you let someone or something else control you – it’s an

But God’s desire in your battle more than the victory of it…
- is the victory in yourself

Still – Acknowledge God’s Power and Presence

17 You do not have to fight this battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. He is with you, Judah and Jerusalem…

How do you fight standing still? What does this mean?

Paul says in Eph. 6
‘Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil…so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground…’

Psalms 46:10 says…
“Be still and know that I am God!”
You see standing still is being still in knowing God in your life…

This is what King Jehosophat did…
Yahweh, the God of our ancestors, are You not the God who is in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can stand against You.

“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Heb. 13:5

And in the battle Judah was about to face Jehosophat
appointed some to sing for the Lord and some to praise the splendor of His holiness. When they went out in front of the armed forces, they kept singing:
The moment they began their shouts and praises, the Lord set an ambush against the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir who came to fight against Judah, and they were defeated.

Paul said…
‘The weapons we use in our fight are not the world’s weapons but God’s powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds’ 1 Cor. 10:4 GNT

The Bible says…
Then Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord to worship Him. 1 Chro. 20:18

Jesus said…
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Lk 12:25-26 NLT

Paul said…
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Phil 4:6 NKJV

When you get up in the morning like Judah did to face the battle…
And you get ready to physically, don’t forget to suit up spiritually?

See – With The Eyes Of Faith

17 You do not have to fight this battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.

20 In the morning they got up early and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa. As they were about to go out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in Yahweh your God, and you will be established; believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.” 21 Give thanks to the Lord, for His faithful love endures forever.

First you surrender…Trusting God’s hand in you and on you
Second you stand still – acknowledging His presence and power available to you
Third you see with the eyes of faith the salvation and deliverance God wants you to possess.

Believe in Yahweh your God, and you will be established; believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.” 21 Give thanks to the Lord, for His faithful love endures forever.

It’s believing in

– your God – Believing His to and for you!
Just look at the ultimate expression…in answering your prayer…
He sent and gave Jesus on the cross for you!
It’s also believing as Jehosophat said, in His prophets, and you will succeed – His Word

Too often we believe our feelings and rationalize our reactions…

Paul said this…
For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. 1 Thess. 2:13

And part of the believing is what is what God’s people did in verse 21…
Give thanks to the Lord, for His faithful love endures forever.

When you face your battle and see with the eyes of faith with thanks, it speaks faith!
When we say thanks after receiving – that’s

When we say thanks before receiving – that’s !
And it activates God to move in you and for you!
