Isn’t Only One Way to God Narrow-Minded?

Matthew 7:13-14; John 14:6

Road Trip 07 | Michael Braden | connect & care assistant pastor | first aired on 07.21.19

“People like to say that all religions lead to the same place and that there are many ways to God. But the Bible doesn’t support that idea. In fact, it refutes it, saying very clearly that Jesus is the only way.”
—Kevin Myers, Grown Up Faith

You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. —Matthew 7:13-14 [NLT]
I. Jesus gives us … one that leads to and one that leads to (Matthew 7:13)

II. Jesus tells us that there’s a to either option we choose … there is not an easy way (Matthew 7:14)

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. —John 14:6 [NLT]
III. Jesus clearly teaches that He is the way to God … we either believe Jesus taught or (John 14:6)

That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. —C.S Lewis, Mere Christianity

“So acknowledging that Jesus is the only way isn’t being bigoted or narrow-minded. It’s being truthful. And if you are someone who already believes in Jesus and has asked him to be Lord and Savior of your life, acknowledging that he is the only way and acting like that is a true demonstration of grown-up faith.”

Note on this series:

We encourage you to purchase the book Grown-Up Faith by Kevin Myers and read through it as you track with the summer message series. Messages will still be meaningful if you don’t read the book but it will help you take a deeper dive into biblical responses for big questions of the faith.
