Overcoming Your Fear Group Guide
May 26, 2024

Opening question:
What were you most afraid of as a child?

Passage:
1 John 4:1-18

Sermon Points:
God is Love
The King has Come

Discuss:
1) What stuck out to you from the sermon or did you have any questions?
2) Do you feel like fear is a big part of your life? What role does it play in the decisions that you make?
3) Have you ever been afraid of God’s judgment? Does that fear make you feel like you need to perform or relate to God through your good deeds?
4) What is comforting about the idea that God draws near to us in our fear? How does this change how we think about our circumstances?
5) How can knowing how the story ends (Christ’s victory over sin and Satan) change the way you think about trials and fears in your life?
6) Have you ever seen God take a difficult situation and use it for your good eventually?
7) Is there something in your life currently that you are afraid of? How can you involve God in the situation? How can the group support you?
