- Have you ever been swindled by someone? What was the story? What did you do? How did you feel?
- Read Matthew 7:12-23. Why do you think Jesus ends His sermon on the mount in this way? What do you think He is emphasizing?
- True and false teachers will often both often appeal to Scripture. How can we know which teachings are true and which are false?
- What could be dangers to mostly listening to teachers/preachers we don’t personally know? Flip the question around - could there be dangers to never listening to teachers/preachers that we don’t personally know?
- Is it possible for someone to teach something incorrect but not be a false teacher? Why or why not?
- What is wrong if we don’t take Jesus’ warning in v21-23 serious enough? What is wrong if we take Jesus’ warning too seriously?
