
Matthew 14:22-33
- Your Faith Grows as You Do What God Says.
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. Matthew 14:22

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”… Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NIV
Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV
- Your Faith Grows Through Storms
After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Matthew 14:23-24
“buffeted,” “basavizomenon” means: tossed around with great force.
Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Matthew 14:25-27
- Your Faith Grows through Action
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” Matthew 14:28
This Week’s Power Verse: But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:6
“Come,” he said. Matthew 14:29a
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Matthew 14:29b
- You have to step out to find out!
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:30
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:31
- Your Faith Grows Through Relationships
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Matthew 14:32-33
